History

Robin Figren has had a decent season with Frölunda’s junior team which he followed up with a good U18 WJC tournament. The flashy forward scored 10 goals and 28 points for Frölunda in the junior league. A decent production, although he was expected to have some more goals in the scoring column.

Selected by the Calgary Hitmen in the CHL Import Draft.

2006-07: Figren played his first season in North America as a member of the Calgary Hitmen (WHL). He appeared in a total 62 games for the Hitmen, with a total 27 points (10 goals, 17 assists)  and 54 penalty minutes. He was also a member of Team Sweden in the U20 World Junior Competition, where he played  four games and registered an assist.

2007-08: In his only season with the club, Figren tallied 31 points (18+13) in just 35 games with the Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL). He had a strong performance in the 2008 WJC for Team Sweden, skating in eight games and recording nine points (6 goals, 3 assists).

2008-09: with Djurgardens in the Swedish Elite League. Figren totaled only three goals and nine points in 49 games.

Talent Analysis

Figren is flashy, an excellent skater with good endurance. Checks very hard and is a good two-way player. Figren has also some great offensive tools, including a good goal scoring ability, nice technical skills and a killer shot, which is especially valuable on the power play. He does not have any major flaws, but he is inconsistent, his size is not intimidating and at times Figren can appear to be a tad selfish with the puck.

Future

Will come to North America and likely play for the AHL Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
