History
2007-08: A trade in June of 2007 saw Haddad go from Prince Edward Island, where he had seasons of 15 and 21 points, to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles where he posted 31 goals and 62 points in 70 games.
2008-09: In September 2008, Haddad was invited to be on the Penguins team for the prospect tournament in Kitchener, Ontario. After a strong showing in Kitchener, the 6’2 winger was invited to the Penguins main training camp and subsequently sent to their AHL training camp. After signing a three-year entry-level deal with the Penguins, Haddad was sent back to Cape Breton as an overage player.
Talent Analysis
Haddad has a skill combination that is best suited for a power forward role. A hard-nosed player with a knack near the net, Haddad had not seen a lot of ice time for the Prince Edward Island Rocket and had been pigeonholed in a checking line role.
After being traded to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Haddad discovered his scoring touch. The Nova Scotia native compares his style of play to Ryan Malone and Colby Armstrong, one an agitator and one a power forward, who had gained cult-like status during their stays with the Penguins.
Haddad gets most of his offensive production from his willingness to play in the crease. Haddad enjoys physical play, at times to a fault, flirting with suspension.
Future
Haddad has a lot of work to do on his game.
