History
2006-07: Tropp played the last two years with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL, helping the club win the USHL Championships in 2006-07. Tropp led Sioux Falls in scoring last year with 26 goals and 62 points in 54 games finishing tied for 14th in points and finishing 6th in goals per game in the USHL. Tropp, a gifted goal scorer, led the Stampede to their first ever Clark Cup Championship, scoring four goals and 13 points in eight games. Tropp, who has appeared in 100 career games with the Stampede, was also MVP of the 2007 USHL All-Star game after scoring two clutch third period goals. Tropp hails from the talent-rich Detroit Honeybaked organization.
2007-08: In his rookie season with Michigan State, Tropp appeared in all 42 games with the Spartans. He tallied his first collegiate point, an assist, in the home opener against Colgate on Oct. 19. He had his first collegiate multi-point (1+1) outing against Northern Michigan on Oct. 26. He netted the game winning goal against Ferris State in the series finale with the club on Dec. 8.
Talent Analysis
Tropp is a scrappy forward with the tools to become a contributor on offense. With good skating ability and an opportunistic streak around the net, he does have the tools to ultimately contribute on an NHL checking line. He needs to be a more confident and consistent player in order to take the next step forward.
Future
He will return to Michigan State next season, and should have an expanded role with the team. He will have the opportunity to be more of an offensive force, rather than the checking forward role he had this past season.
